Recent Crisis Requires Cash

Dear neighbors,
The board of the Vista del Rey Mutual Domestic Water Consumers’ Association held an emergency meeting at 1 p.m. yesterday to determine how we will pay for our most recent water crisis and the resulting necessary repairs.
The issue seems to have stemmed from a short in the wiring of the well, which required rewiring, but also the pulling and replacement of the pump, which had been damaged. The costs incurred by the electrician, Harrison Well Service, and our water operator come to $10,000 to $11,000. We cannot state the final amount at this time because the electrician has additional work to do.
We do not have enough money in our bank account to cover these expenses and to keep the well running in the immediate future: our normal monthly expenses must continue to be paid or we would end up being without water yet again. For this reason, the board agreed to request a one-time assessment for $150 from each of our seventeen househoulds—in addition to your monthly payments of $75—to help defray the cost of the repairs. Simultaneously, we are attempting to negotiate a time-payment plan with the well service.
The assessment must be paid by October 5, 2016. Make checks payable to the Vista del Rey Estates MDWCA and place them in the usual mailbox. We appreciate your understanding and your prompt payment.
Sincerely,
The VDRMDWCA Board of Directors
